Client case Van Zessen

Van Zessen improves margins by intervening earlier on pricing

Using current market data instead of static market listings

Van Zessen is an official Mitsubishi dealer, active in sales, leasing and maintenance, and also offers a wide range of other brands. To accurately value those non-core brands and stay aligned with the market, the company uses the data and software of JP.cars.

“Previously, we mainly looked at cars that were currently listed in the market,” says Thijs Weeda, co-owner of Van Zessen. “What had actually sold recently was much harder to see. JP.cars gives us that insight, which allows us to react much faster.”

Van Zessen works with the data and software of JP.cars.

Responding earlier to pricing deviations

With JP.cars, Van Zessen continuously monitors whether vehicles still align with its pricing protocol. “If we deviate 2–3% from our protocol, that’s acceptable,” Thijs explains. “But when a car is 10% off, it needs immediate attention.”

The software flags these deviations early, prompting faster action. “JP.cars urges us to intervene sooner than before. That leads to a more proactive pricing strategy and prevents large corrections later on.”

Smaller price adjustments with a positive impact on ROI

By intervening earlier, Van Zessen limits the size of price adjustments. “Instead of making big discounts after a long period, we now make smaller, earlier adjustments,” Thijs says. “That ultimately has a positive effect on our ROI.”

This approach gives Van Zessen more control over stock performance and reduces the risk of reactive pricing decisions.

Efficient valuation of unfamiliar brands

JP.cars is primarily used to value brands outside Van Zessen’s core Mitsubishi range. “For Mitsubishi, we know the market almost down to a €100 difference,” Thijs explains. “But for other brands, JP.cars really shows its strength.”

The software confirms intuition with data and provides the ETR marketability score. “The ETR tells me immediately how fast a car is likely to sell. That insight is extremely valuable during purchasing.”

Fine-tuning individual protocols with ongoing support

Another key benefit for Van Zessen is the ability to work with an individual protocol. “If everyone used the same valuation logic, we would all end up with the same prices,” Thijs says. “With JP.cars, we define our own protocol based on what matters to us.”

During onboarding, the protocol was fine-tuned together with the JP.cars team and continues to be adjusted as the market changes. “This is a volatile market,” Thijs concludes. “JP.cars stays involved and helps us adapt when needed.”

“We reduced our stock days by 25% and increased stock rotation by focusing on marketability with JP.cars.”
