Client case Premium Car Company
Premium Car Company focuses on used cars in the higher segment, including BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Land Rover. For years, owner Wouter Klok relied primarily on experience and intuition when buying and pricing cars. To gain more control over inventory performance, the company started using the software and data of JP.cars.
“Previously, we did almost everything based on intuition,” Wouter explains. “If you wanted to know a car’s value, you checked AutoScout24. Today, JP.cars is our main reference. We use the software for price indications, market developments and purchasing decisions, combined with our own experience.”
Premium Car Company works with the data and software of JP.cars.
A key change was shifting the focus at purchase towards cars with high marketability, measured by the ETR. “The ETR shows us how marketable a car is and how quickly it is likely to sell,” says Wouter. “That insight directly affects our purchasing decisions.”
By applying this approach, Premium Car Company reduced stock days by 25% while keeping the same inventory size. “With the same number of cars in stock, our stock rotation increased significantly,” Wouter explains.
Operating in the premium segment brings additional complexity. Exclusive models are not always highly marketable. “We can’t fully limit ourselves to only high-ETR cars,” Wouter says. “But today, around 80% of our stock has high marketability. Previously, that was closer to 50%.”
More importantly, the team now clearly sees which cars require attention. “Before, we often weren’t aware that cars with a very low ETR were sitting in our stock. Now we know exactly which cars we need to move faster.”
JP.cars also helps protect Premium Car Company against misbuys and long-standing inventory. “When a customer offers us an exclusive model, we first look at the ETR instead of relying on gut feeling,” Wouter explains. “If similar cars are already sitting with competitors, we are much quicker to say no.”
This approach reduces the risk of accumulating slow movers. “Of course, the final decision is still made by a person. If I come across my dream car, I’ll buy it. The software is an indication, not a command. But we no longer build up long-standing stock without realising it.”
Beyond risk reduction, Premium Car Company also uses JP.cars to identify purchase opportunities. “We can see which cars are selling well in the market,” Wouter says. “If a premium model fits our profile and shows strong marketability, we actively start looking for it.”
Looking ahead, JP.cars remains a core part of daily operations. “We want to keep growing in volume,” Wouter concludes. “JP.cars already plays a key role in that and has become indispensable for our business.”
“We reduced our stock days by 25% and increased stock rotation by focusing on marketability with JP.cars.”
