Valckenier Case Study
Valckenier is a Belgian automotive group active in the sales and rental of used cars and new vehicles. To determine the right moment to sell rental vehicles, Valckenier uses the data of JP.cars. As a result, rental vehicles are now sold at the right time, leading to higher margins and improved turnover rate of the rental fleet.

Within Valckenier, the used car department decides which rental vehicles are sold, mainly based on age and depreciation. As the fleet continues to grow, this approach becomes less efficient. It is time-consuming and sales decisions depend heavily on one experienced colleague.
“As our fleet expanded, the used car department received more and more questions from the rental department about which rental vehicles could be sold. With JP.cars, we can now make those decisions ourselves, without burdening our colleague,” says Levi Van Der Perre, Responsible for Rent and Share at Valckenier.
The software helps Valckenier make faster decisions on which rental vehicles are suitable for sale, based on market data. “We now quickly have an overview of all vehicles we can sell fast and at a good price, allowing us to optimize our margins.”
Using JP.cars, Valckenier analyses which vehicles are currently highly marketable. This makes it possible to sell cars earlier if market conditions are favourable.
“In the past, we always sold the oldest vehicles first. Now we look at which cars can be sold at a good price. Which vehicles are high in demand? Which vehicles sell quickly? Sometimes this means it makes more sense to sell a one-year-old car,” Levi explains.
This approach not only improves margins, but also increases turnover rate. “We want to sell our vehicles more proactively and increase our turnover rate. JP.cars helps us with that. With the software, we can easily monitor the pricing and marketability (ETR) of our vehicles,” says Levi.
During the pilot phase, Valckenier implemented its own pricing strategy in the software. Valckenier’s valuation expert worked closely with JP.cars, continuously comparing valuation outcomes with his years of experience.
“The software was already very close. Together with JP.cars, we refined it further. In the long term, this should make our expert’s job easier. With the software, more colleagues will soon be able to perform valuations. This means our valuation expert can focus on complex cases or less marketable vehicles,” Levi explains.
Valckenier values the proactive support of JP.cars. “A real breath of fresh air,” says Levi. “They proactively ask questions, provide feedback and make you feel seen.”
Currently, JP.cars is mainly used by the rental department and the used car department. The next step is integration with internal systems, making the software relevant for sales teams as well.
“We see this as a long term collaboration. The automotive sector is constantly evolving and with JP.cars, we are better prepared for the future,” Levi concludes.
“JP.cars helps us make faster and better informed decisions. We no longer base sales purely on vehicle age, but on real market data to decide which vehicles we can sell quickly and profitably.”
